When people think of meditation they often envision a Buddhist Monk sitting cross legged in an uncomfortable position saying “OM” in rapid succession. The truth is, it doesn’t have to look or be like that to be considered beneficial meditation. There are many forms of meditation, all leading to the same place…Inner Awareness and Peace. The objective of meditation is to be in the moment, while simultaneously choosing to be at peace with any thoughts or mind-chatter. Meditation is called a PRACTICE for a REASON; it takes PRACTICE to master the art of being completely free of the mind-chatter, but the journey to get there is well worth it.

This is not necessarily a cookbook class where you learn the sequential steps of transcendental and/or Zen meditation. It is more of a free flowing, experiential journey we will call Niranjana: which means we will go to a place where body, mind and spirit are pure and free from falsehood. So it is the journey itself that makes meditation, meditation. In this class you will understand the benefits of meditation as the following: stress relief, peace & calm, improved clarity & focus, emotional balance, higher self –esteem, improved health and relationships as well as insightfulness into the very nature of your being. “Meditation is not to escape from society, but to come back to ourselves and see what is going on… “ Thich Nhat Hanh

Rev. Christopher StandingBear has been teaching meditation since 2005 as a part of the Spiritual Path Coaching™ program; was one of the first eight meditation facilitators in the world working towards World Peace through the Ten Million Clicks for Peace program, and was trained to be one of the first meditation facilitators for the Meditation Challenge created by Lisa Hepner. He also facilitates meditations as a part of the Free Meditation Circle.
